Unfortunately, the way Kingdom Hearts story was structured, the side games are pretty much essential content to understand what's going on story-wise, so the moment you jump into KH3 without playing the other games, you're completely lost-and the game doesn't help you catch up on that. Lots of people got the game because they remembered playing KH1 and 2 ten years ago. KH3's hate was blown way out of proportion, mainly because the anticipation for the game was too high.
